NYE Halo SMOKEY EYE

The countdown to the new year has begun and I couldn't wait to do this party-ready New Year’s Eve Eyeshadow look!. Using a mixture of both drugstore and high-end products, I wanted to create a look just in time for those NYE parties. A classic and super easy Halo smokey eye look with a touch of gold on the lids. NYE is the perfect time to go all out with your makeup.

For this look, I used two palettes on the eyes - for the lids I used the Morphe 35o and Gosh Cosmetics palette 'To be cool in Copenhagen'. To mute out the discolouration on my lids I used the NYX eyeshadow base in 'Skin tone'. I first went in with a soft brown tone from the Morphe 35o as my transition colour for the next shadows. Following on using the Gosh palette, I then went in with a taupe brown (cool tone brown) for the main colours on the crease. Carefully applied the colour onto the inner third of the upper lid using the Sigma #E30 brush. Repeated the previous steps to the outer corner as shown (be sure to leave the light base eye shadow in the centre of the lid). Lightly blend across the crease from the inner corner outward. On the lids, I used the gold from the Morphe 35O palette on the centre of the lids. I always line my waterline with a brown or black and then simply smoked the colours down.

For the skin, I used Mac face and body foundation in 'C6' and then concealed and corrected with my Nars radiant creamy concealer in 'Caramel' and very deep bisque corrector by Bobbie. To set it all in place, I went in with my Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in 'Medium / Dark' under the eyes and around my mouth. To contour the skin I first used my Ellis Faas foundation in 'S107L' and then set it using the NYX highlight and contour palette in the colour 'Sculpt' - nose, cheeks, chin and forehead.

For the Lips, I used Coloured raine Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bachelorette purchased from beautybay.com

I hope this look inspires you to come up with your own Halo smokey eye this NYE. Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year, and if you try any of these looks and upload photos to social media, tag them with #textbookbeauty.

Here's to 2017.
